Thaipusam holiday well spent with my friend the YB (read: Yang Best), Yong Yee. Awesome conversation, endless brainstorming, new ideas and heart to heart convo; while exploring good food across areas and culture; complete with an inspirational movie too (watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty – so good!).
What’s the matter with ’em flip flop yo? I tried to project that laid-back weekend look by wearing flip flop that got Yong Yee making a remark about how I never wear slippers when I’m out and about (well, I actually do, only not often). Truth is, I only have that one good pair of Havaianas flip flop and no other casual sandals. Oh well, no matter how bad I wished I never have worn the flip flop with my ‘Keep it Cool’ weekend look (title inspired by Kelela’s song off of her mixtape, Cut4Me), I do admit that my most-time covered feet finally had that much-needed breath of fresh air they have long deserved.
To flare pant or not to flare pant? I’m sure y’all noticed the whole flare pant trend which sometime can be a bit tacky if wrongly chosen. I personally have tried very hard to resist the idea of it. Sigh. You see, I think flare pants are great but the ones I’ve seen online or at a couple of shops out there can be a bit… how to put it… er, tacky? I especially dislike lycra pants no matter how comfortable they are, I don’t think I will ever put them on. Ever. But if you do, good for you. There are tonnes of flare pant options out there if you are the kind who aren’t that particular. If not, you gotta keep searching. I would especially advise you to look around for those with cool patterns and let them be cotton, if you could find any. I should also tell you that the one I’m wearing right here is NOT a flare pant. It’s actually a cotton jumpsuit with flare bottom! Aha! And it has this cool tiled heart pattern which is quite pretty. What I did was flipped the upper part of the jumpsuit inwards and treat it as a pant. Brilliant huh? ;p
Details of my look:
Red skull-patterned head wrap from H&M, oversized off-white cardigan from British India, black turtleneck top from Uniqlo, cotton jumpsuit turn flare pant from Dorothy Perkins, flip flop from Havaianas, bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs, gold-black chained necklace from Vincci.
